Compress video

Pick a target size — Discord, email or your own number — or a quality level. Toolula works out the bitrate and resolution, then encodes on your device with the GPU's hardware encoder.

How to use it

  1. Drop one or more videos, or click to choose them.
  2. Under Compress by, pick Target size and a preset (Discord 10 MB, Email 25 MB, 100 MB) or your own number — or pick Quality: Smallest file, Balanced or Best quality.
  3. Optionally lower the maximum resolution, change the codec or tick Remove audio.
  4. Click Start and download the result. If the original is already well compressed, Toolula tells you to keep it.

Frequently asked questions

How do I compress a video to 25 MB for email?

Choose “Target size”, click the 25 MB preset and start. The bitrate is calculated from the video's length; if the budget is tight, the resolution is lowered automatically so the picture stays clean.

Why is compression so fast?

The video is encoded by your graphics card's hardware encoder via WebCodecs instead of a slow software encoder, and nothing has to be uploaded or downloaded first.

Is my video uploaded to a server?

No. The file is read and written inside your browser tab using WebCodecs — nothing is uploaded, there is no account and no watermark. Once loaded, the page also works offline.
