Print layout

Drop one or more photos, pick the paper and the photo size, and Toolula fits as many copies as possible — with margins, spacing and cut guides — then saves an exact-size PDF, PNG or JPG for your printer.

About this tool

Exact-Size Photo Sheets for Any Printer

For passport photos, wallet prints, school pictures and photo packages — laid out and saved in your browser, never uploaded.

As Many Copies as Fit

Paper sizes from A5 to A3, Letter, 4×6 and 5×7, portrait or landscape. Toolula tries the photo size upright, sideways and as a block plus strip, so straight cuts still separate every print — for example 31 passport photos of 35 × 45 mm on A4 instead of 30.

Passport, Print and Custom Sizes

Wallet, 2×3, 3.5×5, 4×6, 5×7 and every passport and visa size from Toolula's ID photo tool, or your own width and height in mm or inches. Each photo is cropped to fill its frame or fitted whole, and turned to match it.

Print-Ready PDF with a Resolution Check

The PDF page is exactly the paper size and every photo sits at its exact millimetre position, with crop marks or cut lines as vector lines. Each photo shows the DPI it reaches at its print size, so you see before printing which one will come out blurry.

How to use it

  1. Drop one or more photos (JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC), or paste them with Ctrl + V.
  2. Choose the paper and its orientation, then the photo size.
  3. Set the margin, spacing, cut guides and whether photos fill or fit their frame.
  4. Fill the sheet with copies, or set the number of copies per photo.
  5. Download the PDF (or PNG/JPG) and print it at 100 % (“Actual size”).

Frequently asked questions

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Every image is decoded, processed and encoded inside your browser tab with Canvas, Web Workers and WebAssembly. Nothing is uploaded, stored or logged.

Why do my prints come out the wrong size?

The print dialog is scaling the page. Choose 100 % or “Actual size” instead of “Fit to page” or “Shrink to fit”, and use the same paper size in the printer settings as in Toolula. The PDF page is exactly the chosen paper size, so at 100 % every photo has its exact size.

What resolution do I need?

300 DPI is the usual target for photo prints and the default here. Next to each photo Toolula shows the resolution it reaches at its print size; below 200 DPI it may look soft and below 150 DPI blurry. A higher output DPI cannot add detail a photo doesn't have.

Can I print passport photos with it?

Yes. Pick the document's size under Passport & ID photos, or make the photo first in Toolula's ID photo tool, which checks head size and background, and send it to Print layout from there. Many shops print a 4×6 sheet for little money.

PDF, PNG or JPG?

PDF is best for printing: it keeps every photo at full resolution and the exact page size. PNG and JPG carry the print resolution in the file, but a few print apps ignore it, and very large papers are limited to 16 megapixels per image.

Is it free, and is there a watermark?

Yes, it is free to use without an account, and Toolula never adds a watermark. The free plan has fair-use limits; Toolula Pro, an optional plan, raises them.
