WebP to GIF

Drop an animated WebP or APNG and save it as a GIF for apps and sites that don't accept WebP — with the same frames and timing.

About this tool

GIFs from Animated WebP and APNG

Some chat apps, editors and upload forms still only take GIFs. Convert in the browser, nothing leaves your device.

Keeps the Animation

Every frame, its delay and the loop count are carried over; transparent areas stay transparent.

Good-Looking GIF Colours

One shared palette with ordered dithering avoids flicker; choose the number of colours and a lossy level for smaller files.

Static WebP Too

A WebP with a single frame becomes a single-frame GIF.

How to use it

  1. Drop an animated WebP or APNG.
  2. Leave GIF selected and adjust colours or lossy level if you like.
  3. Check the preview.
  4. Download the GIF.

Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded?

No. Toolula reads, edits and saves the animation inside your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, and it keeps working offline once the page has loaded.

Why is the GIF larger than the WebP?

GIF is a much older format with up to 256 colours and simpler compression. Raise Lossy, lower Colours or reduce the size to bring it down.

Is there a size limit?

Animations are held in memory while you edit them. Very long or large animations are loaded at a smaller size (and, on phones, only as many frames as fit), and the tool tells you when that happens.

Is it free?

Yes — no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on the number of files.
