How to use it

  1. Drop the PDF. The tool opens with Word selected as the output.
  2. Choose a layout. Keep layout makes each page look exactly like the PDF, with every line of text in its own movable text box. Easy to edit rebuilds real paragraphs, headings, lists and tables.
  3. Click Convert & Download and open the .docx in Word, LibreOffice or Google Docs.
  4. Check headings, tables and page breaks, especially with Easy to edit, where the text flows anew.

Frequently asked questions

Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?

No. Toolula processes the document inside your browser tab with pdf-lib and WebAssembly, so the file never leaves your device.

Which layout should I choose?

Keep layout when the document must look identical, such as a form or a designed brochure, and you only change a few words. Easy to edit when you want to rewrite text, for example a contract draft or a report.

Does it work with scanned PDFs?

A scan is only a picture of text, so there is nothing to convert. Read the text with Toolula OCR instead: it accepts scanned PDFs and lets you copy the text or download it as HTML.

Is it really free?
