SVG optimizer

Drop SVG icons, logos or illustrations and get smaller files that look the same — with a live before/after preview and a precision slider.

About this tool

Smaller SVGs, Same Picture

Design tools save a lot that no browser needs. This optimizer, built on SVGO, removes it on your device.

Cleans What Editors Leave Behind

Metadata, comments, hidden layers, Inkscape, Illustrator and Sketch data go. Numbers are rounded, groups collapsed and path data rewritten in its shortest form — often 30–70 % smaller.

Precision You Control

Choose 0–5 decimal places and see the result at once next to the original. Keep IDs for CSS and animations, keep the title for accessibility, or drop width and height for a responsive SVG.

Safe to Embed

Scripts, event handlers, embedded HTML and external links are removed, so the optimized SVG is safe to inline in a web page.

How to use it

  1. Drop one or more SVG files (or SVGZ). Each one is optimized right away.
  2. Move the Decimal places slider and compare before and after in the preview.
  3. Choose the options: keep IDs, keep title and description, remove width and height or pretty print.
  4. Download the SVG, or all files as a ZIP, or copy the code.

Frequently asked questions

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Every image is decoded, processed and encoded inside your browser tab with Canvas, Web Workers and WebAssembly. Nothing is uploaded, stored or logged.

Will the optimized SVG look different?

Not at the default of 2 decimal places for icons and logos. Very detailed drawings or SVGs with a tiny viewBox can need 3 or more; the before/after preview shows any change before you download.

Which optimizer does this use?

SVGO (MIT licence), the optimizer most build tools use, with its default preset, running in your browser. Toolula adds a sanitizer that removes scripts and external references.

Why should I keep IDs?

If your CSS, JavaScript, a sprite sheet or an animation refers to elements by their id, keep IDs on. Otherwise unused ids are removed and the rest shortened.

Is it free, and is there a watermark?

Yes, it is free to use without an account, and Toolula never adds a watermark. The free plan has fair-use limits; Toolula Pro, an optional plan, raises them.
