About this tool
Every Icon Your Website Needs, From One Picture
Browsers, iPhones and Android phones each want their own icon. This tool makes all of them at once, on your device.
A Real Multi-Size ICO
favicon.ico holds 16, 32 and 48 px versions, so the browser tab, bookmarks and the Windows taskbar each get a sharp icon. Small sizes are scaled down in steps, so fine lines don't break up.
Ready for Phones
apple-touch-icon.png (180 px) for the iPhone home screen, 192 and 512 px icons for Android and a site.webmanifest with your site name and theme colour.
See It Before You Download
A browser-tab preview in light and dark, plus every size side by side. PNG, JPG, WebP and SVG logos work; transparency is kept where it is allowed.
How to use it
- Drop a logo or picture (PNG, JPG, WebP or SVG), or paste one with Ctrl + V.
- Choose Fit with border or Fill and crop, then set padding, background and rounded corners.
- Enter your site name and theme colour for the web manifest.
- Click Create favicon, download the ZIP and copy the HTML snippet into your page's <head>.
Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Every image is decoded, processed and encoded inside your browser tab with Canvas, Web Workers and WebAssembly. Nothing is uploaded, stored or logged.
Which files are in the ZIP?
favicon.ico (16, 32 and 48 px), favicon-16x16.png, favicon-32x32.png, apple-touch-icon.png (180 px), android-chrome-192x192.png, android-chrome-512x512.png, site.webmanifest and an HTML file with the tags to paste into your page. Starting from an SVG adds favicon.svg.
Where do I put the favicon files?
Upload them to the root folder of your website, next to your home page, and paste the HTML snippet into the <head> of every page. Browsers also look for /favicon.ico on their own.
Why does the Apple icon have a background?
iOS shows transparent home-screen icons on black. If you keep the background transparent, the Apple icon alone gets a white one; iOS rounds its corners itself.
Can I make a favicon from an SVG?
Yes. The ZIP then also contains favicon.svg with your padding, background and corners, which modern browsers prefer because it is sharp at every size. The PNG and ICO icons are drawn from the SVG at 1024 px and scaled down, so even the 16 px version stays sharp.
Is it free, and is there a watermark?
Yes, it is free to use without an account, and Toolula never adds a watermark. The free plan has fair-use limits; Toolula Pro, an optional plan, raises them.
